The Role
I had a fantastic time during my internship. The staff were very helpful and I believe I gained a true insight into the activities of an audit assistant.
My colleagues entrusted me with a lot of responsibility and were extremely helpful in ensuring I learned a lot and felt part of the team.
We had an interim meeting with our manager half way through the programme and after about 6 weeks had a meeting to discuss our appraisal and comments from colleagues.
Initially there wasn't much to do as I didn't know what to do, but the more time I spent with KPMG, the more work I was given and the more tasks I was able to complete.
I was given a lot of responsibility which was rather daunting initially, however, I learned a great deal because of this and my confidence built rather rapidly.
I have applied for a graduate position with KPMG and the knowledge and skills I have learned throughout the internship will be greatly useful when I start my graduate position.
The Company
The Senior Manager was very much in favour of staff bonding and so we regularly went out for lunch together and attended department meetings and nights out.
There were days when there wasn't much to do but overall the organisation was great. We were given a timetable on our first day at the office outlining what we would be doing for the full 8 weeks.
I was given a partner interview to determine whether or not I would be offered a graduate placement.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Healthcare from home
I had a partner interview and received a graduate job offer within a week of the interview.
The Culture
Socialising was a big part of the office atmosphere, we had girls nights out and department nights out as well as team lunches when working at clients'.
I lived in my student accommodation for the duration of my placement and so that was fairly cheap. Socialising was not exactly cheap but far from expensive.
Nottingham is a large city and so there was a substantial amount of nightlife to keep everyone entertained.
Anything that was going out with the KPMG team we were invited to attend and take part in.
