The Role
My placement was very interesting - I had a wide exposure to the whole of Financial Markets aswell as my team.
Everyone was very helpful and keen to give me work and organise shadowing with the desks I was interested in.
Regular meetings with my line manager to discuss my work and future projects.
Never had nothing to do.
More than I thought. Some of the work I produced was seen by Senior workers. The work I was doing felt like it was actually going to be used, instead of just being given tasks to fill my time.
Massively improved Excel and PowerPoint skills. Opportunities to attend training sessions outside the company.
The Company
Fast paced - sales and trading on the floor.
Had some issues with HR regarding my accomodation. But everything with my actual team was fine. They had prepared a lot of work for me including a large project to manage myself.
Networking drinks with other interns on my floor. Also attended diversity conference.
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
I am keen to do the product grad scheme with Lloyds. It is rotational and you get exposure to all different parts of commercial banking, as well as rotations with specific product desks. Everyone seems to talk highly of the grad scheme. Benefits include fully subsidised CFA (equivalent to a Masters). The only disadvantage is that it is pretty long - two years.
The Culture
There were only 6 interns on my floor. But we went for lunch/drinks ect. All the interns are placed in accomodation together.
London isnt cheap..
Good - lots of bars and clubs
Yes - Charity Challange, Training, Diversity Conference...
