    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed the latter half of the internship more than the first - that's when everything started to click

    3/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Felt very valued

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • A fair deal of support - what was most important was how friendly my colleagues were

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • It fluctuated - sometimes I was nicely busy, sometimes extremely busy, and often a bit bored.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Incremental responsibility as I proved myself

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • By increasing my understanding of financial markets and economics, I feel stronger going into my studies - as a history student I had always struggled with these areas.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • A very friendly, though not really bouncing, atmosphere

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Quite organized, but lacking in my initial milking period.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • A fair bit - I went to numerous customer meetings which increased my exposure to the banking world and the customer-driven side of LBG. I also was allowed to shadow different areas

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I enjoyed my experience - to a certain extent. But it's not what I want to do as a career. I want to be a historian/lecturer!

    2/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Not really - but I like to be more of an introvert in my lunch-breaks etc. at work. Also, I was only one of two interns in my building - so there wasn't much scope for social activity

    2/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I lived in my uni accommodation in Sheffield (which was subsidized by my intern scheme) - not where I worked (Leeds)

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • No idea - didn't go out there as I didn't live there

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Volunteering was important - but this was all self-organized. My charity team did the Yorkshire 3 Peak challenge. Apart from that, none.
