The Role
The placement was very intense, this was mostly because my office was extremely short-staffed at the time of my internship due to many people leaving. This meant I always had lots of work to do, this often meant overtime (which is compulsary and unpaid). On one occasion I was working at home until 10pm. However, this does mean you gain an unrivalled insight into the workings of the organisation.
I was constantly being told how integral I had been to the team and my formal feedback throughout the internship backed this up. This was mostly because the office was so short-staffed so we were essential to get things done!
My people manager was great, she kept in touch during the whole internship and helped with any issues. On the other hand, my buddy spoke to me on the first day and then I never saw him again the whole 6 weeks.
Due to the staffing situation in the office I was extremely busy all of the time.
A huge amount! I was in charge of the audit for specific items (such as cash and debtors) with very little guidance. However, my work was always checked before being accepted.
Since my degree is in business and accountancy, the experiences I have had with PwC will offer an amazing way of contextualising what I am learning at university.
The Company
Very friendly but hardworking. Every single person i met was nice and had time to chat.
Very well organised. The only thing was that you were expected to pay for air travel during the internship yourself and it could take a few weeks to claim it back.
PwC spent a huge amount of investment in our development throughout the 6 weeks.

The Culture
Went out a few times with my fellow interns.
I live at home so very cheap!
Edinburgh is very studenty and the festival was on during my internship.
There was a few office drink nights but because I was only there for 6 weeks it was hard to take full advantage.
