The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my internship here and would definitely apply again. The work is interesting and the environment is friendly.
I did feel valued by my colleagues: for example, we were given an actual company project to work on and were trusted to do it correctly.
My managers / supervisors were always ready to answer questions and provide guidance.
There were some days on which we had very little to do (mainly due to external blocking factors), but mainly we had work to do throughout the whole day.
Almost as much responsibility as the company places in their full-time developers
Getting experience of working in a team and working in software development will be incredibly useful when I graduate from university.
The Company
Friendly and relaxed. There were jokes occasionally, but obviously work had to happen as well!
Very well organised
Apart from one communications course, the development process was mainly via gaining experience on the job; as such, I find it difficult to evaluate this - one could almost describe it as "personal development by stealth". I certainly personally feel that I have greatly developed over the course of my internship.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Very appealing; I am definitely considering applying for another internship next year.
The Culture
Yes; as you might expect, the other interns are very sociable. There are also relatively frequent whole-office "morale trips" to the pub down the road.
Quite low, much lower than I expected
I don't know
In this particular office, the answer is (mainly) no; nevertheless, I hear that the answer is a definitive yes in the company's main office.
