The Role
I really enjoyed my six week internship.
I always felt as if I was an active part of all of the teams that I worked on.
Lots of excellent support, both from incharges on the jobs I was working on, and also from my people manager on a more general level.
Reasonably busy. When I finished a task and asked someone if there was anything else I could do, there almost always was.
A fair degree of responsibility. I was set real work out on client sites which needed to be done and was encouraged to ask for information/discuss any issues with the client contacts myself, but there was always support there if I needed clarification/help.
I greatly improved both my commercial awareness and my technical skills during the internship. Whilst the effect on my degree studies will be minimal, it will greatly benefit me looking forward to a graduate job.
The Company
Good atmosphere, though I was normally out on client sites so didn't spend too much time in the actual office. I really enjoyed being part of each different team I worked with.
Well organised at my regional office, I was immediately booked onto jobs for my entire internship and when one job was delayed, I was quickly set up on a different job.
Lots of coaching whilst on jobs, with useful feedback throughout.
Subsidised Canteen
National Travel
I was offered and will be accepting a graduate job.
The Culture
Strong social side to the nationwide/Northern events. There was only one other intern in my office so this was more limited.
I lived at home and Newcastle is generally pretty cheap.
Good as always in Newcastle.
Yes, I attended an external event with a large group of colleagues from a range of grades.
