The Role
It was very enjoyable. Especially as I was given a lot of responsibility from the beginning.
I got frequent feedback on things I worked on, and was thanked for my efforts whenever someone felt I did a good job. I got along with everyone in my department, and was able to make many connections during the year.
Regular meetings with my manager gave me the opportunity to show him what I was working on and I would get both positive and constructive feedback. I was comfortable enough to ask for support when I needed it, but he was also trusting to the extent that he would let you carry on with your work if you were comfortable with it.
It would very from month to month due to the nature of the job. However, due to the variation of projects I worked on I could always find myself something to do.
I was giving a lot of responsibility. However, my manager would always try to make sure I was comfortable with that level of responsibility.
I learnt a lot of both practical and applicable skills during this placement. Time management is something that will definitely assist me in my final degree studies and beyond. It was a good year and I would definitely recommend it to anyone applying in the future.
The Company
The people are what I valued most in the company. They were all very accepting and did not treat you as "just an intern". The atmosphere was therefore very friendly, but at the same time people took their work seriously.
As the scheme has been running for several years, it was very well organised. The company even set up a scheme where a representative of the placement students took part in the company's internal committee.
There were many courses that were offered to students during the year for both hard and soft skills, many of which I attended. They were all of high quality, and it was a good experience.

Subsidised/Company Gym
National Travel
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
There were many former students back at the company for a full time job after they graduate, so I think that there is a lot of potential for this.
The Culture
We were very communal as many of us lived together. I think that this was one of the reasons I had such a good year with Panasonic. We would often go on nights out and birthday dinners, which was great. We even went on a bar crawl with interns from other companies in the area, which was a lot of fun.
Reading is a university town, so it was not difficult for us to find a student house. Many clubs have student nights, and food is affordable. It also helps that it is a paid internship!!
Never been on a night out in Bracknell but Reading (where we lived) has many places to go to. It was busier during term time.
There is 5 aside football twice a week at lunchtime where you played with other colleagues. Other than that, there was the occasional birthday/leaving lunches.
