The Role
Very enjoyable. Right combination of challenging, interesting and very pleasant people.
As much as one can on an internship. The work I was doing was contributing to various projects the team was working on at the time. But as one is only an intern the amount to can contribute is fairly limited and the majority of the work was pretty basic.
If you actively asked questions and asked for help then it was fantastic. People were very willing to give up their time to help you when you asked for it but otherwise they left you to figure it out for yourself.
Yes. Both my rotations were busy and I was never really without work but that comes back down to you actually actively going around and asking for more things to do. The work being set was also a manageable amount.
As an intern I don't think you can be given that much responsibility but I was responsible for my own learning and work so I did have some.
Not so much with my degree as I study history so finance isn't that related but hopefully it will be helpful in my future career in the City.
The Company
The people I interacted with very great. They were good fun to be around, happy to banter with you. There was also someone willing to talk to you. Atmosphere was a bit negative at times with some people but generally pretty good.
Exceptionally well organised. Extremely informative and enjoyable. Clearly a lot of thought went into its organisation and for the most part very well executed.
I feel as if they could have spent more time developing your technical skills. Much of what you learnt revolved around the mantra "you get out what you put in". Ie your personal training and development was really down to you. You had to want to develop it.
I personally got a job with RBS but as with everywhere there is stiff competition.
The Culture
Very much so. Both among colleagues and fellow interns.
Pretty expensive in comparison to uni but not out of line with London prices
Fine
Not really as I was working most of the time
