The Role
It was something I really enjoyed doing. Not at any point during the placement did I think that it was a chore. Getting out of bed in the morning to go to work was something I looked forward to the night before.
They treated me exactly the same way as everyone else. The people in my team didn't see me as a lowly intern, they saw me as an equal peer and I appreciated this as I expected to be looked down upon.
I asked for help from my manager quite often, and every time he helped me as much as he could. He suggested quicker ways to do things as well as general advice of what to do in the office. It really benefited me in the long run at my time at the company.
Busy enough to suit me. My manager didn't like to overload me with work as he would say it's not good to get worn out, but I requested some more work whenever I felt as if there wasn't enough.
As much as anyone else. No more, no less. I was surprised to be treated as I was because I just joined the company as an intern, but the members of my team welcomed it and happily invited me in.
Me and all of the other interns had to do a few solo and group presentations, which I thought was going to be a bad thing for me, as I'm not the most confident person in the world, but we all had fun with it and through that I think my presentation skills have improved significantly.
The Company
Lots of talking, people cooperating with each other and laughing. It was really relaxing to work in my office as everyone was so calm about everything. It made it much easier to approach people for help or anything in general.
The whole placement was arranged exceptionally well. There were so many options for us interns and the bulk of what we were meant to be doing was explained clearly without any problems.
Three days of training at the beginning of the placement which just pretty much walked us through our basic job, working area, etc. This gave a good introduction to the job that I was going to be doing over the next couple of months - it really helped me settle in.

I got a job offer shortly after I finished the placement, like most of the other interns. I am to start next Summer.
The Culture
All of the interns worked close together, so we had no problem getting to know each other. Our supervisors arranged a celebratory dinner on the first and last week of the placement which allowed us to talk and get to know each other.
There were a wide variety of places to socialise with other interns but unfortunately these were quite expensive and I chose not to go out as often as I would have liked due to this.
It was very different from the nightlife from where I'm from and it was a welcome change. The number of quality clubs and pubs in the area kept me very busy at night.
Lots of things to do outside of work. Some of the other interns suggested we look for something to do outside of work and our managers gave us a list of things we could do in the area. These things ranged from playing pool at any of the local bars to taking part in a cycle race.
