The Role
It was a good all round experience. I was able to carry out some tasks that would be done on a daily basis in by department as well as learn a bit more about the company in general.
I felt valued and that the work I was doing was useful for them as well as for me as part of a learning experience.
I had a supervisor who I could ask questions whenever I needed help. Everyone else was also very happy to help when I asked.
I was kept busy by asking for additional work whenever I was waiting for responses from other people to continue my original tasks.
I was given a good amount of responsibility for my level and the amount of time I was at the company.
I learnt a lot about the department I was in and how to communicate with different people which will be useful for the last year of my uni and any job I take on in the future. I also received very good constructive feedback on areas for improvement.
The Company
People were friendly and easy to talk to. My own role involved talking to different people so I was able to move around and made it more interesting.
I thought the focus of the internship was very appropriately set - allowing us to contribute to the work of the company whilst making sure we had a good overall experience by allowing us to be involved in as many different activities as possible. The assessments and feedback were also very useful.
If there were any relevant training talks occurring, I was encouraged to participate and the development programme structure was appropriate for the internship.
Flexi Time

Company Parties/Events
The graduate program seems to be an ideal post-uni employment opportunity and I feel that my line manager will appropriately present me for that.
The Culture
Being located in halls allowed us to talk to other summer interns in other parts of the company and made it easy to socialise with everyone.
Coming from London, cost of living was much lower.
Coming from London, I found Derby to be much less vibrant but being in halls with the other interns helped to find people to go out with.
Yes and the linked in group was a good way to find out about activities that other interns were going to be doing.
