The Role
It was very enjoyable, with a lot of opportunities to learn new things and gain 'real-life' experience.
I was made to feel like a full time employee rather than a summer intern. Invited out on departmental socials etc.
When I could get hold of him, my manager was very good at giving support and guidance...though by the nature of his job, he was often away/in meetings.
Very! Just wish I couldve been paid for some overtime at times!
I was given the opportunity to be responsible for some smaller projects.
I have learnt how to use some computer softeware which will no doubt be gvery useful at university.
The Company
Big office with my department in one area so always things going on. Everyone worked at their own desk but there were plenty of conversations going on within the department.
Seemed very well set up within the department and accross the site but there were occasions when it was apparent some other departments werent as fully on board as mine when doing group projects with other summer interns from other departments.
There was time given to spend time learning new software that could then be used to complete departmental tasks. As I was only at the company for a short time I cant really have expected to be trained extensively!
Offer of going straight to assessment centre for graduate scheme.
The Culture
Yes, good social scene amongst other interns and many of the grads.
Pretty good value, £90-100 per week including bills for a house 10mins walk away.
Not great!
The Lake District in literally on your doorstep so if you like the outdoors its a great place to be!
