The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement year and wish wasn't over so fast!
The HR team is all situated in an office together and we work together closely including on joint projects. I always felt valued.
My manager could not have been better! She helped me immensely and answered any questions I had.
The role was very busy but I soon learnt to manage my time effectively.
I had a lot of responsibility in my role due to the HR team being reasonably small, including particular areas that I was solely responsible for.
Training and development opportunities were readily available. Panasonic really do invest in their students even-though they are only there for a year.
The Company
I was lucky to have a very hard working but also fun team, we had a lot of interesting conversations and I don't think there was one day where I didn't laugh!
Panasonic take on students every year and the recruitment and induction is run by the current students, it is very well organised and I didn't feel too phased when I started.
There were various training courses available from microsoft office packages to others such as presentation skills training. There isn't a limit on the amount you can attend, your manager just has to agree they are happy with the date.

There isn't a specific graduate scheme but many employees across the business started as students and are now in management level positions.
The Culture
Although I didn't live with the other placement students we had a lot of get-togethers throughout the year for activities such as paintballing. Also each student will have a birthday as well as everyone in the office so there is a lot of celebrating to be done!
The cost of living was definitely affordable on Panasonic's salary. We all managed anyway!
Reading is the nearest place for nightlife and although is isn't a massive city it is a student city so has something for everyone.
