The Role
Very much so, first few weeks were quite nerve-wracking as I felt out of my depth and my placement wasn't directly related to my degree, but after getting settled, enjoyed it more week by week.
Very much so, always help when needed and felt treated like an equal and that what I did genuinely mattered. Occasionally a little stranded when deadlines were approaching for colleagues but those were few and far between and very understandable.
Clear brief, regular feedback if asked and help always available
Generally not that busy, but just about busy enough to keep interested. Enough wider research to be done to stay occupied.
Almost sole responsibility for my two projects, but with sufficient guidance and support to not feel too responsible. Allowed to represent JLR to external companies.
Minimally due to the area I was placed in, but good to get a wider perspective and some general knowledge in another area. As well as general working/business life experience.
The Company
Couldn't recommend it enough, quiet at times but everyone was very friendly, helpful and willing to take the time to make the effort and talk to you.
Clearly prepared for my arrival with specific projects in mind
Not much past the standard online training presentations etc. but in terms of a personal investment from the team, plenty. Not much else expected really considering the 12 week timeframe
Subsidised Canteen
Very, hoping for a grad scheme offer
The Culture
Although I didn't live with the majority of placement students, it sounded like they enjoyed themselves
Not sure but sounded reasonable
No personal experience but sounded above average
Through the company, not particularly but again, with the limited timeframe I think that'd be an unfair expectation. A couple of socials within the department throughout my placement.
