    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I had a fantastic time completing my Summer Internship with PwC. The internship was really well structured and provided me with the opportunity to get a real insight into the line of service I had chosen. I was able to work with a vast range of clients across the Internship and got a real life taster for the role. There were also lots of fun networking days and opportunities organised for the Interns which created a really fun and exciting experience.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The support I received from management and supervisors whilst working at PwC was fantastic. From the start I was assigned a People Manager who took care of my development and offered fantastic advice and support to the gain the most out of my Internship. Management were also extremely supportive providing me with the opportunity to shadow them on high level meetings and their day to day activities. I was offered really sound guidance and advice during my Internship which really helped me have an enjoyable and insightful 6 weeks.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I felt like my Summer Internship was extremely well structured and planned and therefore I was busy on a daily basis as there had been a clear plan organised for my time with the firm. Not only did I get the opportunity to work on lots of clients there were lots of Intern Development Days and Networking Days organised that very quickly filled up my 6 weeks. This did however vary depending on the office you were working in and the types of jobs and work they had available and I think I was very lucky!

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I feel like I was given a perfect amount of responsibility whilst completing my Summer Internship with PwC. I was provided with the opportunity to take real responsibility for certain sections of the client jobs but felt completely supported throughout. The managers I worked with ensured that I had enough responsibility to learn and develop whilst making sure I was not overwhelmed.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • This Summer Internship was extremely insightful and enabled me to gain a true understanding of the job role and business that I would like to move into as a Graduate. I was able to develop on knowledge I had previously gained at University and apply it to practical real life business situations. In particular I had a great opportunity to interact with clients from a variety of businesses and truly develop a professional business confidence. I also received a huge amount of training whilst on the job through working with a variety of employees but also specific development days that were organised for the Interns. I really believe that this internship will help me going back to complete my final year at University and the bonus of being offered a Graduate job for performing well has been extremely rewarding!

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There was a really friendly and welcoming atmosphere in the office I worked in. Everyone worked very hard and although some were members of the team were working long hours morale remained high and people were happy. I worked in a small office so it was really easy to get to know everyone and it seemed like the office were very close and supportive of each other.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I would say that the Summer Internship was extremely well organised from start to finish. The company got in contact with me before I started the Internship and I felt well informed throughout. There was a clear plan of what was going to be expected of me over the 6 weeks, the development days and networking events were well organised and the work that was arranged for me was really well thought out.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm really invested in my personal training and development as a Summer Intern. The first week of my internship was an induction week which provided me with really thorough training. I felt well informed about the job but also learnt a lot about the theory behind what I would be doing. Whilst completing my placement I was required to set and meet objectives in order to set myself goals to ensure that I was benefiting from completing the placement but also developing along the way. PwC really makes an effort to invest time in your development as you are a potential employee to the firm.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • One of the highlights of my Summer Internship was the social scene between the Interns. There was plenty of opportunities for the Interns in a variety of different offices to get together and socialise and it was really great to share our experiences. The colleagues I met were also very social and always keen to go for lunch together or organise drinks during the evening.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I worked in an area that was cheap to live in and socialise. PwC are a great firm to work for as if you are sent away on business to work or to attended a business event they will cover your expenses including travel, accommodation and food etc

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The office is situated in the middle of the town so there are many bars and clubs close by. The town is also a student area with quite a lot of young professionals so the Nightlife is very buzzing!

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There are lots of opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work. The firm does a lot of office based volunteering and charity work which is easy to get involved with. Not only this but the office I worked in was very social the staff often lunched together or went for after work drinks.
