The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my 6 weeks at PwC, there were tough moments but overall I felt that I gained valuable experience and a real insight into life there.
I felt that the working environment was really well balanced and I felt as if I was actually of use on the job and not just an extra body on site.
The teams that I worked with were very well managed and I was given excellent support and guidance throughout by colleagues at a range of different levels.
I was busy working on either personal projects or client work every day but one for my entire 6 weeks. You are really utilised as an asset for the company and get some really valuable experience if you are prepared to put the time and effort in.
Over the first few weeks I was given a good level of responsibility, allowing my to develop my skills and progress. In the final week I was allowed to go onto client site on my own to conduct some work and so I feel I was given lots of responsibility.
I feel that I learnt and developed a wide range of skills over the 6 weeks and they will help me manage my time more effectively and generally be more productive in my final year of study. The skills that I learnt will help me progress throughout my career.
The Company
There was a great overall atmosphere in the office, everyone was willing to help. Several times if I was stuck I felt more than comfortable in asking someone I didn't know if they would be happy to give me 5 minutes to show me what to do. Everyone was more than happy to help and really accepting. There was also a great social aspect to the internship and we were invited on lots of social events.
The internship organisation was really well structured and gave you a good variety of work over the 6 weeks. The balance between learning new skills on a job, shadowing senior members and personal development was excellent.
As a summer intern we were treated as a new start in the company and given the same level of support, guidance and push to develop as someone joining the firm full time. Lots of time was invested in us from partners coming to talk to us, meetings with senior members of staff, general support from all staff.

They are very appealing, I have been offered a job with them for the 2015 year and given how well I felt that I fit in over the summer and the quality of the internship I will definitely be accepting the offer.
The Culture
Yes, there was a good social aspect to the internship between other interns and existing employees.
The cost was reasonable but not as cheap as other areas. Having lived in Manchester I was aware of the cost of living and compared to London it is good.
The Manchester nightlife is good. The PwC office is located just near the canal which has some good bars.
There were several opportunities and as interns we were encourage to get involved. We were invited to either the sports day for the manchester office or the RAS away day at the end of the internship.
