The Role
Not just given the jobs that nobody else wanted to do. Highly involved with new and existing projects. Near enough an actual employee.
Always had work to do, which is brilliant.
My placement will not help me with the content of my degree because it isn't really related to it. However, it will aid with good lab practice and lab-book write-ups.
The Company
Pleasant.
I was trained on all of the appropriate equipment and was given almost all of the opportunities that permanent employees had.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
The placement helps you to build relationships with a lot of people all over the company, therefore it can put you in good sted for a job post-degree.
The Culture
Friday fever sweeps the whole company every week! Organised curry nights are good and also most people would have a get-together for their birthdays.
Student town, therefore drinks are cheap. However Hull isn't as cheap as I thought it would be. Rent and bills are pricey.
More depends on the people you're with than where you go.
