The Role
Amazing experience. If you have a sincere interest in financial markets, you will enjoy every single day of your internship at M&G. There are so many people who are ready to talk with you and so many things you can do if you are proactive that you will never get bored.
When requested, my opinion was always appreciated.
Everybody is extremely helpful and you are strongly encouraged to ask questions, not only to your manager.
I was expecting to be busier. However I managed to keep myself busy arranging meetings with people with other departments or playing a little bit on Bloomberg.
The real lesson from this internship comes from the first-hand understanding that I gained of the asset management industry. I also used Bloomberg quite a bit.
The Company
M&G culture is unique: The atmosphere is very relaxed and senior people knew my name from day 1. You can just drop an email to an Head of something and he will be more than happy to talk with you for half an hour in front of a coffee.
HR did a great effort to structure this in internship in a nice way and I think they succeeded. There were plenty of events organized for us, both during the day and outside working hours.
