The Role
The placement was a great insight into the industry and a large company. It featured multiple events which allowed for senior speakers to talk to the interns across the globe and answer any questions we may have
I was included in all events and meetings the team attended and my opinions were heard
My manager would give me advice and support if I asked for it, but the majority of my support and guidance came from my co-workers. The support structure provided by the firm was good, and I had chance to speak to multiple senior people/my previous graduate buddy if I wanted to.
I had a project set out for me with clear deadlines, and that kept me busy throughout the internship. However, if I was feeling bored, there were other projects I could work on. The work set never felt like too much, and was a good amount.
The outcome of my project would greatly help the team, and was something that the higher management team had been wanting for a while. This gave me a sense of really contributing to the work that the firm does.
The skills I've learnt will be invaluable for my future. This includes both technical skills and networking/communication skills. Theses skills are something that cannot be picked up in a university environment.
The Company
I never found I didn't want to come to the office, but at the end of the day it was not overly exciting, just quite a standard office atmosphere.
The application/interview/onboarding process seemed to be very fluid from what I saw.
There were no real training programmes. We were encouraged to take on what we could, but no kind of development schemes were in place

I was offered a graduate position at the end of the internship, which had fast tracked me into a career.
The Culture
The fellow interns were mostly situated in the same building, which meant that the social scene was very active amongst us. In addition, there were multiple events organised by the recruitment team aimed specifically at interns.
Bournemouth is relatively cheap for food/drinks/living costs.
Coming from Manchester University, the nightlife was a step down, but there was still a lot of places to go out.
Some of the activities that JP Morgan Chase advertised were only open to permanent employees. This was partly due to the limited time period the interns were spending at the firm. However, events were still put on that we could attend, separate to the intern specific events.
