The Role
The location was the only minor drawback but I think this is personal preference. Everything else was extremely enjoyable, particularly for anyone with an interest in the automotive world.
Everyone in the business was welcoming and keen to understand more about me and my background. Treated like any other employee and felt like a key team member from day one.
Could have been more one to one meetings with manager, but I feel like I would have had these if I had wanted them, sometimes it was just a case of not enough hours in the day,
Daily tasks as well as ongoing projects in the long term allowed me to plan my time effectively, some dull days but only as any job would have.
Gradually I was assigned greater responsibility as the placement continued, as I was able to prove to management that I could deliver and was a dependable individual. Towards the end of the placement I was happy with the amount of responsibility that I had, however, personally I am keen to get stuck into everything possible so I still felt that I could have taken on more.
Learnt many transferable skills, both general and job specific that will be invaluable to my future career. Networking has allowed me to gain some good contacts for possible graduate role opportunities. The work ethic is also something that I will apply in my final year studies to make sure that I reach my full potential.
The Company
I was able to build lots of strong working relationships, strengthened by the large social element to the company, not only in my own office but across the whole business, particularly through attending every event possible, with internal and external parties.
For a placement that is only now in its fourth year the set up is well organised and there is a defined role for the student with great responsibilities and a great environment to thrive in.
I was not required to complete any courses however I still felt valued and invested in in terms of people's time and efforts, as well as on the job raining specific to my role and any other areas in which I wished to develop my skills, for example, SAP use.

The Culture
My colleagues and now friends were always particularly keen to enjoy the social side and there are lots of good places to go whatever your tastes are.
Cost of living was high in terms of rent but that was because I was keen to have a nice environment to live in. Other than this living costs were average and drinks/dinner out could be usual or expensive depending on where you went.
not so great, but then there are other places close by that are much better!
Motorshows, trips abroad to dealerships.
