The Role
I enjoyed it a lot as I was given opportunity to make a significant contribution to the project. I was allowed to complete direct deliverables and this allowed me to learn a lot.
I felt very comfortable around my team. They were very friendly and a pleasure to work with.
I was supported well by my manager and he was able to guide me as to how to improve the quality of my work.
My manager always made sure I had to work to do and kept me fairly busy.
I was given a lot of responsibility. I was allowed to work independently and creatively solve problems.
I learnt a lot of excel and powerpoint skills which will be very useful in my course. I also learnt how to communicate with other members of the team.
The Company
Everyone works hard in the office but there is also a fun atmosphere with consultants eating lunch together and organising socials. It would have also been nicer if interns were allowed to rank their competency preference. I felt the questionnaire answers should not be used to allocate the competencies as the answers can be interpreted in different ways.
I would have liked the internship to be much longer! Five weeks were not sufficient to understand completely the culture of the firm.
The company has a mentorship programme in place to allow for training and development.
National Travel
Interns are extremely valued and are likely to be offered a position.
The Culture
Due to the nature of consulting, it was difficult to work and see other inters. However, there were good a amount of socials organised which allowed the interns to meet after office hours.
I lived at home and so there was not much cost. When at the client site, all expenses are reimbursed.
With a busy schedule, you won't have time to go out during weekdays. It also depends where your client is based.
Most of the time you will be at the client site and so the opportunities available will depend on the client.
