The Role
The work was varied and other staff were friendly, I got to meet a lot of different customers, but the work itself was boring, I was pressured into carrying out unethical practices and told to speed, there was never enough staff making it stressful and promises made regarding time off in lieu of weekend work and bank holidays were false and there was no intention to keep those promises
Colleagues up to a certain level who were much in the same boat were friendly and you could talk seriously and be respected, colleagues over a certain level treated me as if I was stupid whenever I asked a question and then told me I didn't ask enough questions. They also acted as if I was stupid whenever I voiced doubts about unethical practice's.
There was guidance in the form of the training book but there was never any time the managers had for me to go through things whenever I asked (which was a lot!!) When I had problems I was not offered support from those above me.
Very! There was always so much to do and the days ended up much longer than I was told they would be, I was told to expect longer than 40 hours with an average of 50per week, I actually worked 60 hours or more every week, up to 68 one week where I also worked the weekend
I was given very little responsibility, I was told I could take on more at my own request but whenever I asked I was told "I'll sort that later" and never delegated further duties as they always wanted me out on the road
[This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] all I really learnt was more resilience and how to deal with so much pressure for very little responsibility
The Company
I know that other branches were more fun and energetic than the one I was at because everyone told me when they came to my branch. [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions]
I feel as if it was poorly set up to provide any real challenge/responsibility, it seemed to me just a way for the company to hire talented individuals for a job that was not originally a graduate calibre job and things that were promised, I felt, were not delivered even with my persistence in trying to get somewhere
They set up the original training week to start the transformation into one of their clones to do the job their way and invested in training you to carry out the role how they want, but otherwise there was very little time for me.

They very much boast of internal promotion and career prospects, however those in higher positions have got their through unethical means and making sure others are pushed aside, and for promotion to happen, jobs have to be opened up. My branch manager left in my second week due to bring forced out by management and all themanagers are very young suggesting the company doesnt like to hang on to staff for too long.
The Culture
I met some lovely people who I could talk to as they were in the same position as me, and we tried to organise things, however with the demand of hours, it was tricky to find time.
Where I was it was an expensive area, however I commuted there and there is offices nationwide so you can choose the area you work in.
I didn't really experience the nightlife due to the long hours, I was exhausted!
There were emails sent about charity events and other things going on which the company was involved in and which they said staff could get involved in, but, again, with the hours demanded from me I didn't get the chance to get involved
