The Role
Very enjoyable, after 1-2 weeks was working on a real project making my time chargeable to clients.
First couple of weeks not much real engineering work, but picked up. Staff all very friendly too.
There when ever I needed help. Was working on a project for staff in another office, so guidance was mainly via phone and instant messaging, but worked well due to good IT capabilities of the company.
Yes, after the first week or so.
Was doing the detailed design for monopiles, as the only person working on this, my work was checked but other than that it was up to me. Felt very trusted ad responsible.
Very much, as will be doing a Geotechnical Eng module.
The Company
Very friendly, never scared to speak to people even to just chat and banter. This may be due to the small size of the department.
Very good. Just what you'd expect from a large company.
Limited as office based work, but some site visits and also learnt how to use a new piece of software.
Very good. Speaking to staff, most of employees come through the scholarship scheme. Still have to apply and interview/assessment.
The Culture
Yes, a staff event was held but I was unable to make it. Would have like to socalise more, but had a long commute in evenings.
Commuted into central London.
N/A
Not many, although for a full time employee, there seemed to be several social clubs I saw posters for.
