The Role
I had a great time, from socials such as the summer party, and fortnightly softball, to many intern events such as table tennis, it was an enjoyable summer
My colleagues were interested in my background and life outside of work, and included me in decisions and meetings alike, Even coming to me for help / advice,
My manager found time in his busy schedule every week, to fing out what i was enjoying / disliked to tailor my tasks, such that i got the most out of my internship. HR were around if ever needed, and helped with anything possible.
There were some quiet days, especially at the beginning, however this picked up, and more tasks assigned,
Over time responsibility increaased as tasks were completed, from implementing new processes to making changes on servers
The placement was extremely useful, and provided a great insight to the corporate environment, training was weekly through learning sessions & lunches provided centrally allowing an oversight of the business and asset management industry, to specific Information System talks to give a more targeted view. A presentation provided a great chance to practice presenting, speaking and feedback provided to help you move forwards.
The Company
The office was friendly / informal but professional, lots of socials and everyone being approachable
We were provided with a schedule with all events placed into calendars, all but one event ran (due to external factors) and lots of activities to help us learn and stay engaged
There were group and individual presentations, a personal development managers, and the chance to see other ares
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Been offered a place on the Grad scheme, and felt like the buisness wanted us throughout the internship (not being a burden)
The Culture
There was a good balance, with some socials , events and generall going out with other interns. Lots of after work drinks with both colleagues and students.
London being london is quiet expensive especially if you go to university else where, living at home living costs were minimal
expensive but you have got london on your doorstep
There were a few, but not obvious at first.
