The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Deloitte and was made to feel like part of the team right from day one. I got to experience a variety of different clients and tasks which allowed me to decide what I would most enjoy as a graduate.
I felt very valued by my colleagues and could always approach them with questions. I had many opportunities to communicate with the partners in the office too which helped with the conversion interview process as one of the partners was my interviewer.
I was given plenty of support and guidance throughout my placement, particularly by the assistant manager and senior manager I was sat near. There was a real sense of support in the office and I knew that I could always ask the manager who I was working for any questions.
Some days I was very busy whereas others there was little work for me to do as it was a quiet period in the team. On the quieter days I researched the qualifications I would study for as a graduate and a more in-depth look into the Deloitte intranet which gave me information on working in the firm such as career rewards.
I was given plenty of responsibility throughout and felt like my input was valued.
I thought that the interview skills provided in my induction helped me in my graduate conversion interview to secure a career after I graduate. I developed a variety of skills, including presenting and analysing, which will assist me in my final year of studies.
The Company
There was a very welcoming atmosphere in the office and I liked that senior managers and directors were in the same office as associates, it gave the impression that everyone is a team.
I thought that my placement was well organised from start to finish and really valued the welcome event before I began working as it gave the opportunity to ask questions and to network with other internees.
I was told about the opportunities to study for professional qualifications as a graduate and when I first joined I had an induction into my service line which gave me an insight into tax and what Deloitte provides for its clients.

I am hoping to work in Deloitte when I graduate and study for professional qualifications in the tax service line. It is a company which really values its employees and provides endless opportunities for career progression.
The Culture
The welcome event at the start of the placement gave all the internees the opportunity to meet and network. I found this a really useful event and spoke to some internees throughout our placements which was great as we could gain experience from each other.
I already lived in the city that my placement was in and it is a fairly value-for-money place to live.
I was in the Newcastle office so the nightlife was pretty good!
Unfortunately there were not any sports clubs or socials that I knew of to join. I think this was the only downside to my placement as I was hoping to get involved in a social or sports club whilst there.
