About You
Overall it was a really positive experience and as much as I could have wanted from my first relevant professional placement.
For the most part you really are treated as though you are a full time employee at a graduate level so whilst the work may be entry level, you do become aware that it is all necessary work that graduate employees or even more senior employees would otherwise be doing
I was briefed before starting every task that involved new forms of work and I never felt like I couldn't ask for help if I needed it
It gave a deeper insight into the work I have covered in my degree but more grounded in real life practical situations as well as developing skills beyond what is taught at uni.
The Company
Administratively it was very well structured but due to the nature of the work being there as and when it comes around and my present knowledge level there were obviously some short times over the 4 weeks where I ran out of work to do.
Everyone in the office were really friendly and approachable and we went out for longer relaxed team lunches a couple of times where they showed their interest in getting to know me me and the other interns.
Between doing work various members of staff gave us talks on what their specific roles were and how we could look in to it if we were interested in it.
I think it gave a very accurate view of what life would be like as a graduate in the team.
I did learn a lot about the history of the company and how they have got to where they are at present and how they expect things to be done. I was able to see or use most of the facilities they provide employees and learnt about their ethics and pride in the brand.
It gave me a good view as to exactly what I would be doing in that role within Deloitte and confirmed for me that I would want to go down that way as a future career path.
Everything Else
The placement was very well paid for such a short period of time.
They make a lot of effort in getting you to meet as many people across service lines as possible and the opportunities are there for anyone that wants them.
Again there were plenty of these in both formal and informal settings for everyone that wants to make the effort.
I learnt some of this through the placement but much of it was just through generally looking around Deloitte and the brochures they use for advertising their graduate roles.
Yes it was very useful and a great thing to have for the future.
