    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • It was a very good insight into the division. I was given a lot of varied work which helped me to gain a good overall view of the type of work I would be doing if I joined for a graduate position. My buddy was very helpful and always had work for me to do which meant I was never sitting around. People were also very friendly and helpful, always trying to make sure the work was not repetitive.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt very valued at the firm, I was given quite a large amount of responsibility from the outset which was surprising considering it was just a three week internship. I also felt like I could talk to anyone and asking questions was encouraged. I felt like a part of the team and felt like my ideas and opinions were taken into account.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I was given a lot of guidance. My buddy was always there for me to ask questions and even when he was busy he made sure I had someone I could talk to. Everyone was eager to help if I asked and they were always willing to spend some extra time going through the basics with me to make sure I got a good understanding.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I believe that the skills I developed will be extremely useful for any future job I take. The amount of client interaction I was allowed to witness meant that I got a great exposure in how to interact with clients. The amount of work I was given also meant I learnt to prioritise tasks which is undoubtedly useful for university studies.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was very well structured, I was given a broad range of things to do and they built on from previous tasks. I was also given some degree of freedom as to what I wanted to do which meant I could look into areas that interested me. Having said that, I thought the induction training was not very useful and did not really benefit me.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • There was a great atmosphere during the three weeks. There were a number of socials and all colleagues were very friendly.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • As it was a relatively short experience there was not much opportunity for personal training. However, I was given some training at the start and had the internship been longer I am sure that the company would have invested more into my personal development.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • As my hours were those of a full time employee I gained a good insight into what working for the firm full time would be like. Having said this, I did have some issues with not having access to some programs which inhibited my ability to gain experience into some of the most fundamental day to day activities of the department.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The insight was very helpful in understanding the company culture. I

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The content was very valuable in choosing my future career path as I was shown what the more senior members of the team did as well which meant I could see the progression from starting out as a graduate to becoming a partner.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was paid and reimbursed expenses. The pay was adequate.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Yes, I was able to meet other employees of the firm at some events though not senior members from other departments. People were happy for you to go up and approach them.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • There were lots of social events which meant I got a good exposure to a range of people at the firm and they didn't spare any expense.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • The sports teams were mentioned to me but as I was only there for three weeks I did not really get that much of an insight into other activities.

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would definitely recommend this insight to a friend. I got so much experience from the insight and everyone was very friendly and helpful. The programme is well structured and there is lots of opportunity to be responsible for tasks.
