The Role
Thoroughly enjoyed the internship, gained a true feeling for what life would be like working in both the industry and the firm.
Much of the work on the internship was team based and I never felt out of place and instantly felt like a was a valuable member of the team.
Faultless. A key phrase that is emphasised from the start of the internship is "always ask questions", this is very true. Members of staff were always happy to drop whatever they were doing to coach me, this was true from associates all the way up to senior managers.
This varied highly, on some days I would have plenty of work to do and the day would fly by. On others I would have very little to do but my people manager would be very active in sourcing work for me.
Right from the start I was given tasks relating directly to the audit of paying clients.
Very much so, I have gained skills in communication. networking, audit, and had priceless experience of what it is like to work in this industry.
The Company
The office tended to be quiet, but as most of the internship was spend out at client sites this didn't matter so much, on the client site I was part of a small team so the atmosphere was much friendlier and I could get to know my colleagues much more.
As a rule it was organised quite well, I did have some issues with where I was going on jobs and my schedule changed a few times which was not ideal however August is a quiet month in Audit so hiccups were natural. Other than that the organisation was very good.
I feel that a lot was invested in me. Throughout the internship my progress was tracked and I had regular meetings with my people manager and buddy to ensure that I was developing, as an intern I had access to online training which was very useful and all the interns also went on a development day mid-way through the programme which enhanced our transferrable skills such as presentation skills.
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Very, was offered a graduate scheme.
The Culture
Plenty going on outside of work to ensure networks can be built.
Very reasonable.
Leeds is a very good city for nightlife.
I participated in a networking event arranged by PwC with other firms which was very excited beyond this there wasn't too much, but as mentioned earlier August is a quiet month in the office.
