About You
I very much enjoyed the insight, I learned a lot about the company and met some very interesting people.
Overall I was happy with how valued my colleagues made me feel on my placement. For example one piece of work I did was used and referred to heavily in a presentation with a senior manager. Although at times I was given some of the more tedious jobs today, which is to be expected as a summer vacation scheme student.
I received a lot of guidance during the placement and was able to arrange a meeting with an assistant manager to discuss my time on the placement and my upcoming partner interview for a graduate position.
I was taught some new skills on excel that I previously had not known and also gained a better understanding of the UK tax system for international assignees. I also got a chance to practice interpersonal skill, note taking and presentation skill on my placement.
The Company
Well structured, always had work to be getting on with and was able to sit in on briefings to develop my understanding of the role further as well as department meetings to gain an insight into the wider projects of the firm.
Very friendly. Everyone works very hard and gets the work they are required to do done but will always be free for a chat to see how you're getting on or if you need any help
I was trained to complete tax returns and completed all of the E-learning exercises given to all new employees.
I was given mini-projects to complete throughout my time at the firm, this gave me an insight into what I would be doing over a longer period.
The company's culture is very team oriented, employees are constantly walking around the office asking for other colleagues thoughts on a particular project. Everyone really gets behind each other to complete tasks successfully.
Very helpful, I have decided to accept the job offer.
Everything Else
I was paid for my 3 weeks on a pro rated salary.
There was a department-wide drinks event during which I got a chance to speak to a lot of my colleagues from all ranks.
The above mentioned drinks event was very useful. I also attended socials such as bowling and meals out with colleagues.
I found out about the various sports teams available to join such as cricket, hockey and football.
I would definitely recommend this insight to a friend.
