About You
The insight was an enjoyable experience. We were taken care of and received a delightful insight into the firm, its businesses, the people who work there and the type of work they do. It was also a fantastic opportunity to meet new people and I felt at home more as we progressed through the program.
PwC made every single person feel valued as employees and the recruiters made sure they approached everyone at one point or another. They reiterated that they were there to help us and find out more about us throughout the program.
We were guided throughout in what we were going to do. However, it was up to us come up with the ideas, our own approach to activities. For example, with the group exercise, we were given support with a practice one beforehand to have a feel of the task.
There was not much to develop skills in particular. However, I did find myself more confident in speaking out and asking and answering questions and also working as a group in various tasks.
The Company
The insight was well structured starting with a speech and an introduction into what we were going to do over the program. We did ability tests, group exercises (for which there was an informative practice session) and also a presentation to a panel of PwC employees as part of a group with time to prepare beforehand. There were also many talks about the different divisions with employees from each one giving an insight. There were always opportunities to find out more through a formal dinner with partners, a networking event with employees as well as during the Q&A sessions.
The general atmosphere was very friendly. Everyone came from different backgrounds but in a similar position as we all wanted to find out more about professional services. It was fantastic to meet new people and get some much out of so little time.
This was more about finding about the industry and the company. There was not much time to do anything else in terms of development. It did however make me confirm that this is the industry I want to work in.
As a 3 day event, I could not tell exactly how I would feel in any particular role. I did realise that I would be valued if I worked at this company and my opinions and ambitions will be understood and supported.
It gave a complete overview of what PwC is about which is the people.
It was very useful in helping me make decisions on where I want to apply and gave me an indication on what I want to apply for in particular
Everything Else
I was reimbursed expenses for travelling. We were also accommodated for the whole duration of the event with meals included free of charge.
Yes there were opportunities for this on each day of the program.
There were two opportunities for networking with the partner dinner and also the informal drinks session with PwC employees. It was great to be able to speak to staff from those who have just joined to partners and find out more about their work.
They mentioned the various opportunities to volunteer, the team building activities organised at PwC and also the several team outings.
Yes I absolutely recommend this program to anyone that is thinking of having a career in professional services.
