The Role
An exceptional year, full or great and relevant experience that will put me in a great position for when I graduate.
I was immediately welcomed into my team and was able collaborate with them in a friendly and efficient manner. I truly felt the work that I provided for my team was valued and thoroughly appreciated my all my colleagues.
I had regular 1:1 meetings with my line manager which enabled to discuss and issues I had, as well as discuss and personal development that I wanted to achieve throughout my placement
As well as having daily tasks that I had to undertake to fulfil my job role, I also had opportunities to explore new areas that I could carry out some work. Therefore my time was always occupied with something relevant to do.
I was given increasingly more interest as my year went on, enabling me to manage projects as well as make key decisions that affected annual team and departmental objectives.
It is difficult to put into words just how beneficial my placement year has been. I have learnt and improved on a wide range of technical and interpersonal/soft skills that I would have not otherwise have learnt.
The Company
It was a professional, yet relaxed atmosphere which made it a suitable work environment to retain concentration.
As I was able to shape my placement in terms f the work I undertook,vi would say it was quite flexible on the whole but still organised when specific work was in place
I had opportunities and a budget to take on training and gain qualifications that were relevant to my job role.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Subsidised Canteen
Financial Bonus
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
The graduate scheme seems just as excellent as the placement and I will certainly looking to pursue a career at GSK.
The Culture
There is an initiative in place that enables students to network and organise social events.
I managed to live with three other people on my placement scheme which made cheap. The general area was also cheap.
The nightlife was okay, but with London only a train journey a way, the opportunities for going out were endless.
There were a number of sport events that the organisation organised, such as cricket football and tennis.
