The Role
Work was interesting and challenging - identical to what a first year analyst would have been working on.
Colleagues were invariably very friendly and considered my opinion seriously when expressed.
There was a degree of independence, but I was always able to ask for help if necessary.
Busy with work, but not overwhelmingly so. However, there was a week-long lull between projects during which I was left without much to take on.
Responsibility progressed sensibly and quickly. By the end, I was given ownership of entire workstreams. I continued to have regular meetings with my manager, though, to get feedback and advice.
Both technical and soft skills were strongly improved. In particular, I developed hypothesis-driven research and analysis skills and drastically improved my PowerPoint and Excel skills.
The Company
It's an office so was obviously quite quiet and conducive to work.
Everything ran very smoothly, with good initial training, interesting projects assigned and a number of contact points for any matters that arose.
Excellent training available. The firm is surprisingly committed to your personal development and training; there is definitely a strong sense that they are investing in you.
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
The firm offered to a number of interns, including me.
The Culture
The firm organised some good dinners/nights out; never lacking social events. We didn't organise much among ourselves but can't fault the firm.
... it's Central London.
Again, it's Central London so there's always going to be somewhere a few Tube stops away. There was a club opposite the office actually, which we went to after our closing dinner.
There were some good social events organised, but not a huge amount else besides.
