The Role
Great experience - thoroughly enjoyed my 2 months as an intern in the HR department.
Felt like a valued member of the team throughout the experience. Everyone I came into contact with was committed to enhancing the experience as much as possible.
Full training, guidance & support was given. I had a line manager, a buddy & a mentor all committed to supporting me, as well as other colleagues who were especially supportive & offered great advice throughout.
The first couple of weeks were less busy (as you would expect) but by the end of the internship I was always busy, there was always something else to do, which helps in feeling as though you are making valuable contributions. Inevitably some days were busier than others but there was a good balance of being busy whilst not being overwhelmed.
Good amount, not too much to feel overwhelmed right at the start but enough to feel as though I had made a valuable contribution. However, amount of responsibility depends on how much you ask for it - if you don't feel like you're being given enough, ask for more & demonstrate that you are capable!
Skills learned were absolutely skills for life: from practical skills such as Excel to transferable skills necessary for any workplace, such as communication and professionalism.
The Company
Fantastic atmosphere, everyone was generally relaxed, flexible & understanding. I was expecting the atmosphere to feel much more bureaucratic - which it wasn't at all.
Very well organized. Training & events were organized by the recruitment team on a regular basis which gave a great opportunity to meet with other interns outside of your team.
There is a weeks worth of training at the start of the internship, as well pre-employment online training and training modules once you start in the office. Also receive regular feedback from line manager and other colleagues which enables to to continually develop.
