The Role
Overall I enjoyed the company and the other interns at the site however the team was interesting and work was not what I was expecting.
This was largely to do with how the team interacted and gave feedback to one another (which wasn't often)
We were told what work to do. As a placement student we are on a placement to first and foremost LEARN l, not to simply be used as cheap labour for the company which is how I felt. There were no one on one meetings with my manager to discuss my personal development which as a student in a first "proper" job I expected. My manager made it clear how he felt about such meetings.
Work picked up at points throughout the year.
The nature of the worked required responsibility
As a finance student doing a placement which had nothing to do with finance it had no impact at all, but it developed key soft skills such as negational skills and working in a team.
The Company
Our team due to it's specialised nature of the work was segregated from the rest of the office. However we did enjoy cake days.
The internship I took was a normal day to day job. A placement student or anyone else (nom student) could have completed to work.
My manage did not feel that personal development for the students in his remit was important
