The Role
The internship was 9 weeks of hardwork, continuous learning, great support from the company and an intake of talented interns turned good friends.
I earnt respect and established a strong sense of trust during my internship. I developed both professional and personal relationships with my team and I valued the comfortable enviro ment that they made for me.
So much had been prepared for in advance of my arrival. My manager and team had discussed my objectives and plans which structured my internship so that I made best use of my time.
As the workload was dependant on the markets the busy periods were cyclical. This gave me time to complete projects and focus on self-starting work whilst managing expectations during busy periods.
There was a steep learning curve at the beginning. As time went on I was trusted with more work and had some real responsibilites and deadlines I was expected to meet which gave me a real insight into the professional working environment.
My internship gave me fundamental social skills that I can take forward into any environment. Responsibility and feedback from experienced collagues also gave me a great sense of confidence to pursue a career in this industry.
The Company
The company lived up to the motto of work hard play hard. There was a noticeable satisfaction regarding the work/life balance. We even had departmental socials which had great turnout.
The interns weren't treated like school kids coming in to just watch and do filing. We were given real tasks and real responsibilities. We were valued by our teams and also there were so many professional social events set up to integrate us into the corporate community.
We had a week's worth of training, mentors, line managers, networking events, learning sessions, online learning and events all of which was organised specifically for the interns.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Travel loan
The company onboards a sufficient amount of interns that strikes a balance between letting down as few people as possible and trying to find the best people.
The Culture
The interns had many opportunities to socialise in formal events which led to us meeting informally and outside of work. The intake was so diverse that everyone had a different story to tell.
Canary wharf... not the cheapest of places.
There were some great restaurants in the area but for nightlife we had to travel into central london.
There were many sporting and socialising activities for the employees but the interns had many events pre-planned for us.
