The Role
I really enjoyed my placement but felt there wasn't quite enough creativity in my role or any 3D modelling.
Everybody I worked with was very welcoming and supported me when I needed their help.
Again, the people around me were very helpful and supportive and made my placement very enjoyable.
I usually had a number of projects running simultaneously so I always had something to be getting on with.
They were not afraid to give me many responsibilities and enjoyed this as it aided my development and gave me the opportunity to display my skills.
I not only learnt about engineering and manufacturing, but also many other skills that are transferable (eg. man-management, presentation, project management etc.)
The Company
They were great to work with and made my work enjoyable but also were focussed and professional when work was required.
The scheme has been running for many years and they appear to have a setup which works well - everything was well-organised.
I attended a number of meetings and presentations to aid my development and I was encouraged to register for training courses.
I was offered a job but they told me to keep in contact and ask about jobs when I finish university.
The Culture
As the placements students were well-spread across the organisation, I wasn't always easy to organise group outings but a few did happen over the year.
I did not live in the area but I found it to be reasonably priced if I did have to buy anything.
I did not really go to the night-life in Eastleigh so I am unable to comment.
Some of the employees did take trips at the weekends and there was a football night.
