About You
It was a very enjoyable experience. The knowledge I gained throughout the week will be extremely helpful when I consider what internships I may want to do next year.
Everyone I talked to was very friendly and happy to talk about their roles.
There was a lot of guidance throughout the week and everyone was happy to answer any question I had. If at any point I wasn't sure on something, there was always someone to help me. The campus recruitment team organized the week very well and also guided us through the next steps after the insight week.
The skills I developed during the week are somewhat separate from the skills required in my degree. However in terms of future employment/life skills, the week was tremendously useful. One of the key skills that I developed were my presentation skills. There was a talk on how we could improve these skills and I presented as part of a group on multiple occasions.
The Company
The week was very well structured. There was a good combination of panel discussions, presentations, skill sessions and networking opportunities.
It was a very friendly atmosphere with plenty of learning and networking. In particular, the interactive games and teamwork opportunities were a lot of fun.
The insight was only a week long, however there were plenty of skill sessions and presentation opportunities. As a result, I feel I have significantly developed some of my soft skills.
Networking opportunities, divisional overviews and panel discussions made it very easy for me to learn what it would be like to have a full time role.
There were some presentations on the firms culture, however I gained most insight into its culture through the networking opportunities. I particularly like the firm's focus on teamwork and diversity.
Invaluable. The division I wanted to pursue at the end of the week was very different from the one I wanted to pursue at the start of the week.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed expenses (up to £300).
There were plenty of opportunities. I talked with a range of employees from analysts to directors. After the end of the insight programme I was able to do additional work shadowing within the Canary Wharf office.
Very good. There were "networking drinks" on the first night and a closing dinner on the penultimate night. These were extremely helpful and allowed me to talk with a large variety of employees.
We learnt about some of the networks which employees can get involved in outside of work. Many employees were happy to talk about what they do outside of work.
Definitely.
