The Role
I can't quite imagine I could have enjoyed it more - it was inredible. It was a place where I was really able to do the best work, I felt like coming in early and leaving late. Both work and socializing side of the company really impressed me, I didn't know it is possible to have such a pleasant work eniroment with such a good work being done.
From the moment I showed up, everyone knew who I was, what I came to do there, and made me feel like I am a lot more than an intern. For all the work I did, no matter how small, positive recognition was always there, the team made me feel that I am one of them right away. It felt great, and we're still in contact even after my internship.
All the support I could have wished for was there. From simple encourgement, to intensive sessions where my supervisors worked with me on figuring out what and how could we be working towards together for me to gain the most out of my internship there. All the support and guidance was focused on me and what I get out of the intership, it really helped me develop both professionally, and as a person.
As busy as I wished to be. I was given as many opportunities for work as I wanted, which allowed me to keep moving forward and learning non-stop every day. It never got too overwhelming, because work days were always varried with a lot of opportunities for less intensive work, which made for a perfect balance that allowed me to be at the peak of my productiveness.
I was given the opportunity to do work that was just as important as the work that any other team member was doing. We worked together towards the common goal, and hence the reponsibility and trust that was given to me felt very motivating. I was working on real stuff, for real reasons, with for real use and with real consequences.
People don't believe this, but while working at Red Gate for two months, I learned more than I learned in two years at the university. Probably learned different things, but the pace at which this internship helped me develop professionally is simply stunning. It really clarified for me my own capabilities and taught me how to keep moving forward, which I believe will be incredibly useful further down the line.
The Company
The atmosphere was always really upbeat. Even at the times which should be frustrating, the positive attitude of everyone arround never allowed for this to happen. The attidute of everyone made me really excited about coming in every day, I was really looking forward to being in that environment every single day. Even on rainy days, inside it was sunny!
The internhip was organised perfectly. From the moment I stepped into the building my first day, everything was really clear and was really well prepared for me. Throughout the whole duration there was a clear sense of direction, numerous social events, and I had a perfect understanding of what is happening and why.
This is what surprised me the most. The internship didn't feel like I was working for Red Gate, but it felt like Red Gate is honestly trying to make it a good developing time for me. While carrying out the work, the company was setting up countless opportunities for personal and professional development. One-to-one planing sessions, talks, lectures, plans, and so on. Red Gate even covered developer conferences I went to during my internship there. And of course I had a budget available to spend on anything that may help me improve with regards to my work.

As of now, working at Red Gate was the best experience I've lived through. If this really is what working in that company is like, I would love to be a part of Red Gate and I believe I would keep enjoying it just like I enjoyed my internship there.
The Culture
Red Gate somehow got together an incredible group of people that together make up for a very family-like contacts all around. Coworkers instantly felt like friends, and aside from socialising in the office, we were hanging out almost every day after work. Dinners, beers, sports, picknicks, games - little bit of everything!
Cambridge felt very friendly/easy as far as the prices went. Accommodation was easy to find and there were a lot of appealing deals on various places. Prices for socialising were very decent, especially when rating them based on the salaries in the area/field (including that of interns').
For me nightlife implies a pleasant pub with a great atmosphere and people, and Cambridge is definitely not short of places like this. It was brilliant.
Company has build a great community that constantly offeres each other numerous opportunities for all kinds of activities. One morning I was walking to work and I saw couple of coworkers juggling set of bowling pins and asked me whether I'd like to join.
