The Role
I enjoyed a lot the experience. It was my first working experience and at the beginning I found Investment Banking environment too competitive and demanding. I could appreciate the importance of the experience at the end of my Internship when I realized how much I learnt and improved my skills and also my personality. I worked really hard but I found people who were willing to explain me everything and to help me in difficult moments.
Working in a team is not easy. Every team worker has his own personality and his own way of working. Overall I'm satisfied because I found people willling to explain me all I need before I started to work on some projects. I feld valued by almost all of my colleagues and I tried to take thier feedbacks and work on my weaknesses.
My supervisor gave me support every time I needed. He is a Director but I could call him every time I wanted founding him always available to support me. At the end of the Internship we went to have a lunch together and he asked me if there was something could be improved for next interns. This questions impressed me because He was willing to know my point of view of the whole experience.
Maybe too much. I worked almost 15 hours per day and I was involved at the same time in different tasks. Investment Banking is an hard working environment (mainly for junior bankers) but at the same time an intern can learn and grow a lot.
Not too much responsability in the first part of the Internship because I had to learn how to use mail, data providers, Excel and Power Point. More responsabilities in the latter part and in the mid August when I was alone in the office. So I think it was well balanced but I would have loved to work more on same financial models (I didn't see them during my internship)
My experience is finished less than one month ago and I dind't start to study yet. I hope during the last part of my university studies I will be able to apply all the skills I learnt during my intership.
The Company
I was in open space with all the junior team members of the team. I found a lot of enjoyable moments during my Intership and I build up great relationship with almost all the junior colleagues.I didn't work a lot with senior members but there was surely a more professional relationship. The general atmosphere was overall positive and this is what I appreciated more in my Intership because I think it is really difficult to work 15 hours per day with a negative atmosphere in the office.
I worked in the Milan office and we don't have the same facilities other collegues have in London. As an Intern I was in charge of press and binding and I spent time doing them. I think It is important for the team to buy a new and more tecnhological bookbinder in order to simplify the work of the interns.
I think the team invested a lot in me; I could appreciate how many time people in the team spent for explaining me how to do some tasks and which was the better way to do that. They gave me some responsability and they tell me off when necessary (when somebody tell you off it means that he wants you to growth and improve)

Investment Banking career is surely fascinating and I got a job offer in the organisation I worked in. It is not easy to work hard, a lot and under pressure but It is really exciting to work on important projects or deals. In Investment Banking you can get a senior at almost 30 so you can get lot of responsabilities when you re still young and this fascinates me a lot.
The Culture
I worked 2 months with a colluague graduated in engineering and I could improve a lot when I vie with him. We asked help to each other when in difficulty and we shared enjoyble moments during less stressful hours. Working with another interns is not a problem but is an opportunity to share everything and measure your skills and improvements.
I worked in Milan, Taxi and dinners were paid by the bank so I didn't spend much. Milan is an international city and if you want to go out clubbing it is expensive but general cost of living is surely cheaper than in London.
I worked til midnight so I dond't go out a lot during my Internship. Generally Milan is full of clubs with gardens outside for the summer nights. I worked near the city centre so lots of clubs can be reached on foot.
Outside of work you can visit museum or city centre, go and see Milan or Inter football match, go clubbing with friends or go to some pubs or restaurants. Milan offers a lot for people who wants to get involved in different activities and is full of national and international students.
