The Role
I loved the experience and knowledge that my internship in Barclays provided me with.
My colleagues were extremely respectful of me and always regarded me as an essential component of the team.
My manager was always there to help me out. If my manager was unavailable, the other senior members of the team made sure to provide me with guidance.
My days were pretty balanced, with the odd exception of not having much work to do at times. However, I made sure to ask for more work if that happened.
I was given the responsibility of communicating with the business users and gathering requirements from them, as my manager was busy with other projects.
The skills I gained will always be a part of me, as it taught me how to be professional and communicate with people who you don't know.
The Company
We were generally very busy with all sorts of projects, but we made it a point to have tea/coffee breaks and team lunches. We even went out for drinks on Friday and enjoyed a lot.
The internship was extremely well organised, right from the pre-learning and classroom training to the actual days in the office. I never felt as if I was not doing any important work which was of no use. Rather, my manager made sure to give me work which was really important and urgent.
Barclays provided us with professional skills training, Excel training and Financial concepts training in addition to the pre-learning modules provided online. All these were really well organised and they made sure we understood what we were doing.

The Culture
We always went out for lunches and drinks together, and we created really strong bonds.
The cost of living and socialising is high, but we got payed enough.
The nightlife was amazing with great places to go and enjoy with friends.
We could always go to the gym or play sports within Barclays. We also socialised a lot.
