The Role
I enjoyed my job, my manager was very supportive and positive and gave early responsibility of running my own project over the summer that actually impacted the division and not put in a drawer. I was asked to reach out to clients on the second day in the office, and was allowed to work independently over the whole 10 weeks with support given when asked for. It provided a good understanding of the division, and I was given tasks and project that gave insights in most of the processes conducted in this division of the bank.
I was welcomed by the team, who appreciated my contribution as I effectively supported them. They were easy to approach and ask for help and insight whenever needed.
I felt strongly supported by my team and manager throughout the whole internship
Days at J.P. Morgan goes by so quick and I never had time to get bored as I had varied tasks.
I was given three interlinked project to be ran on an independent, but also collaborative basis. One project to reach out to clients and claim or pay funds outstanding, one on reviewing the related process, and a last global across various JPM locations. The first two I ran the projects in liaison with related teams and managers, and the last was conducted in a team together with fellow interns in the UK and US.
It confirmed my interest in the financial industry, and strengthened my constant attention to detail as well as proved my ability to handle office politics.
The Company
Good overall atmosphere, but most employees had more work assigned per day than what is possible to get done in one day which makes it slightly hectic.
Everything was well organized except from taking 1 day to get computer access the first day
They provided training needed for the job as well as gave access to internal learning material and courses.
Subsidised Canteen
I really like the firm, however I might consider other divisions.
The Culture
Pretty good, gave a good understanding of the different levels in the organization and how people are.
Lived rather cheap as it is a second tier city.
For such a small city, the Nightlife was pretty good.
Plenty of outside work activities.
