The Role
The people that I worked with were really supportive and this made me feel at ease. That's why I enjoyed my time so much.
I was covering for people while they were on holiday so I felt like I was a real member of the team. People would treat me the same as any other employee and I appreciated this.
I was given sufficient guidance most of the time but there were occasions where I had no clue what I was doing because I wasn't given clear instructions by the person I was given the work by.
There were days when I was really busy and had deadlines to meet and other days when I didn't have much to do and what I did have was quite repetitive.
I was trusted to complete my work to the correct standard and to take over other colleagues' work while they were away.
I am studying a degree relevant to the department I was placed and this meant that everything I learnt while on the internship will help me and be a part of my degree this year which is extremely useful. I also learnt how to time-keep, be organised and cope with pressure which will come in handy around exam time.
The Company
I liked the fact that there was always chatter going on. I didn't want to work where it was too quiet and you'd feel uncomfortable talking to someone about things not related to work. It was a really nice environment and wasn't too serious yet people still worked effectively.
The main issue with the organisation was HR before I started. They were very slow, didn't understand what they were telling me and were frustrating to talk to. Once I was on my internship the organisation was really good and days out of the office were organised for us. It's a shame that HR didn't do their job effectively because it has brought the score down.
We went on lots of days out of the office to learn about different parts of the bank. We met with different people from all levels and even got to go to the executive floor. If I ever said I wanted to find out about a particular team, my colleagues were more than happy to organise that for me.

Company Parties/Events
The graduate scheme is one of the best ones I have seen. I think the company really want to teach their graduates vital skills.
The Culture
The interns would meet for lunch and we went out for drinks a few times and for a meal for one of their birthdays. I also went out with all of my team. It was nice to get to know people outside of the work environment and the drinks were paid for which was a bonus!
I didn't live in the area, I commuted from home. I did however go out a few times and I think the prices for food and drink were reasonable.
It isn't the best nightlife in the world but there was a club that was okay. There were loads of bars and pubs though.
When I was there people were constantly going on community days to , for example, plant poppies or paint rooms for charities. Also, some people were going to South Africa for a volunteering project.
