The Role
Really enjoyed it, the interns are a great family and the work is very interesting.
Gradually felt more valued but definitely felt like an intern!
Good support, would spend a lot of time with me if needed. Pushed me hard, never spoon fed me. At times felt a little condescending so I didnt push questions but in general my manager was very helpful, easy going and very smart.
Always busy but at my own pace I guess. I had a project that I had to get done and no deadlines that were too challenging.
I created a product for customers which I was very happy to do, A lot of people instead were testing products which did not appeal to me. But being able to take charge of creating something that will actually be used was very rewarding and definitely made me want to work harder
The programming skills should be very useful, and the mindset and way of learning more than anything
The Company
Everyone is very academic clearly, with most people listening to headphones and coding, but in a very pleasant atmosphere
Very well organised, couldnt fault it
My manager put in a lot of time, sometimes several hours a day. I had weekly status meetings and 3 or 4 education sessions on my particular department. There was an effective comms course also but wasnt particularly useful I had a personal development plan and ticked off every box. gave a 30 min presentation on my product at the end of my internship to senior managers which was a good experience
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
appealing, good perks, good salary, great atmosphere, challenging work, good hours with flexitime
The Culture
Yes - weekly lunches, evenings to restaurants and pubs, and a couple of gatherings at houses every week. No real clubbing or anything though as would need to get the nightbus back from london
The company provide discounted accomodation in company houses for £7 a night, although I was sharing a room for much of this time. London prices for food/drinks/travel etc
London but quite far away and we never bothered. Clubbing in enfield did not look appealing
Very good range - football, rugby, frisbee, bridge, cards, social events, laser tag, go karting etc
