The Role
The placement was very enjoyable.
I felt I was treated more like a student than an equal co-worked by some of the colleagues. However, most of them valued the quality of my work.
My supervisors and team mates were very supportive, answered all my questions and helped me with whatever I was struggling with.
At the beginning of my placement, there was a lot of emphasis on me learning about the site, so I mostly read the SOPs and observed others. However progressively I was given more work. There was a lot of work at the end of my placement.
I was given a lot of responsibility at the end of my placement where I was managing a relatively big project.
I have gained my transferable skills throughout the placement. The technical knowledge gained, however, had almost no relevance to my course. It is not the fault of my supervisors or management. It was because the placement itself had almost no relevance to my course.
The Company
There have been stressful days as well as fun days. I enjoyed the office tradition of bringing cakes for birthdays. This definitely improved the atmosphere in the office.
The placement did not have a general structure. Any changes to the placement were introduced through my own suggestions at the 1-to-1 meetings with my supervisor, on a monthly basis.
I have been given a plenty of training. I felt the company really invested in me. I have been on training trips off site and multiple training sessions on site. I have been given tasks outside my job role and I was very happy about it as it was an opportunity to learn about other things within the pharmaceutical industry.

I was given a recommendation by my supervisor and I am on the direct entry roles database. I will also be informed of about graduate programme recruitment.
The Culture
Yes, other placement student were quite sociable.
The cost of living was acceptable.
The town I was staying at was very small with one nightclub. The entertainment in the area was poor. However I could travel to a nearby city which had a much better night life.
Not much, other than some sports classes.
