The Role
I was given real work, that had a direct impact on the business.
My colleagues were fantastic. I was invited to both internal staff events, and events outside of working hours.
My manager was only a stones throw away, so was always there to offer me advice and guidance when needed. I felt like he was really engaged with the internship programme and my personal development.
I had a great project that I could complete at my own pace (with some intermediate deadlines) with the guidance of my colleagues.
I felt as if I had been working at the business for years with the amount of responsibility I was given - it was great to feel that valued and trusted.
I learnt more about programming over 9 weeks that I ever have before!
The Company
The atmosphere was formal, but friendly. There was always someone that I could talk to if I needed to.
The organisation was fantastic. There was a series of events that were for interns, which were interesting, and gave everyone the opportunity to feel comfortable around their peers. There were also a number of technical sessions that were equally engaging and useful.
There were countless sessions that were focused on developing each intern as an individual, targeting the core skills necessary for success in the business. There were also a number of online seminars and conferences available for employees to better their skills.

The Culture
The other interns were likeminded, and we all got along very well. We frequently went for drinks and food after work and over the weekends.
London is London - it's expensive.
Canary Wharf has a great bar scene throughout the week - there is always someone to head to the pub with after work if you like!
There are too many to name. I personally played both 11-a-side and 5-a-side football weekly.
