The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my time here on the whole.
I felt extremely valued by my immediate colleagues and by others on site which was marked by how much valuable work I was able to lead and get involved with.
There is a lot of work to be done all of time so unfortunately it was difficult to get heaps of guidance which actually is a good things in some respects. If you are able to work autonomously then this would be okay. I do believe there should have been more structured, designated performance appraisals etc as I would struggle to count any.
On the whole I was very busy and I could often be found running up and down the stairs. I think the level of work was okay for me but may not be received in the same way by others. There are methods of escalation if you feel you have too much work on though.
I was given a lot of responsibility and was essentially a full member of the team do what full members of the team do but I was a student.
The work I was doing was not directly relevant to my degree course but the soft skills developed are skills for life and will be carried with me wherever I go including back to University.
The Company
This was my first full time job so I don't really know have anything to compare it to. the people I worked with were studious, knowledgeable and were partial to a quick interjection of humour.
I think the latter stages of the internship began to creak a bit. For example details about our start time were never communicated and I received my job description a few weeks into working which isn't great. The latter has been rectified now though.
In all fairness I think I adopted my "go get them" attitude off the back of fairly weak training and development. Towards the end of my placement though people were being brought in to change this and so there is much more of a focus on this going forward.

The company is one of the 5 Big Pharm companies and so working for a company like this is not an opportunity one would throw away easily. However as I mentioned earlier this is the first job I've had so there may be other opportunities elsewhere that are able to provide more in terms of a development and progression point of view. It is worth note that the Grad Scheme and Industrial Placements are completely different and are not run so the experiences of both are most likely to be different as well.
The Culture
Fairly.
It was okay. Rent ranges from about 350-450 per calendar month all inclusive of bills.
Couldn't possibly comment...
In terms of work related activities I would struggle to many though the site did take part in the company event called - Orange Day in partnership with the charity Save the Children.
