The Role
I really enjoyed the internship because I was given a lot of varying work to do - although this was most likely because I kept on explicitly asking for more work. Some of the work I was given to do was also quite challenging, which was far more engaging.
Quite valued. I think that when you first join some of the colleagues are slightly sceptical of your ability to perform, but if you show that you do have what it takes, they value you a lot more, and show this by giving you not just the grunt work that they need to be doing.
A lot of support - if I ever had questions I could always ask any of the multiple managers I was working for.
Quite busy - however this was entirely dependent on me. Had I asked for no work, I would've barely been busy.
For an intern, I would say quite a lot of responsibility. Some of the work I was involved in would've generally been handled by consultants, and that level of responsibility was quite attractive.
As a business studies student, a lot of the analysis helped me with regards to my strategy-based classes.
The Company
Generally quite positive and embracing - it is nice to work there and people are generally very nice to you.
For me, who exactly my manager was, wasn't very clear in the beginning of the internship, but that became well defined as the process went along. My situation was more unique though since I was working for 4-6 managers simultaneously.
For my main personal project, I was given the ability to manage it entirely on my own - this was very useful for my development in terms of understanding how to set up a project and run it, etc. I was also allowed to travel independently for the company, which was also a great learning experience.
National Travel
Generally quite appealing - it is well known within the firm that graduates can succeed very well within the company if they decide themselves to put in the effort.
The Culture
Pretty good, we went out a couple of times which was fun - not every week though.
London - enough said (i.e. quite expensive). But the number of ways in which you can socialise are plentiful.
London - enough said. You can go party as hard as you want.
Not in particular, although I was involved with helping set up a volunteering event (which I couldn't go to though because it was to happen after I had left)
