About You
Fantastic insight into life at the firm, the work that is involved as a trainee, the people who work there from secretary to partner and several enjoyable events and excursions.
I gained access to two seats whilst at the firm where I was assigned an associate supervisor and a trainee mentor. I was quickly introduced and made to feel very welcome in the departments. By the end of each week I had received some form of work or advice from every member of each team so I really felt like I was involved and part of the team.
There were daily meetings about various areas of the firm and different departments. In addition, despite going through a transition regarding their graduate recruitment team, the grad rec partners and staff really put in the effort to ensure our time was running smoothly. Any issues that arose were dealt with efficiently and all queries we had were answered immediately.
There is literally no better way to work out if a career in law as a solicitor is suited to you than to complete a vacation scheme. It provides you with information and insight about the culture of a firm, the work they do, the clients they work with and the tasks they complete in a way that law fairs, websites and books simply cannot match.
The Company
As aforementioned, there were a serious of insight meetings with various departments, and a timetable provided on the first day for the whole time period. We also had a timetable on our computers which was frequently updated to keep us informed.
Really friendly firm, partners approachable, associates and trainees very welcoming and friendly and the schemers were a really good, fun, interesting bunch!
group exercise which was assessed at the end of the scheme. Really enjoyable and good test of team work and time management. In addition, there were several department presentations.
Were actually given trainees task to do. The trainees often delegated and then only made slight alterations before sending the work out.
see above.
it did help me decide.
Everything Else
