The Role
The company was brilliant and the year was full of opportunities.
I felt a valued member of the team.
My supervisor was always there to chat to and ask about other opportunities available that I thought would benefit me.
I was constantly busy with a wide variety of tasks- not all enjoyable! But the day goes much quicker with lots to do :)
A fair amount however I would have preferred more. I was able to present at and even conduct some meetings which gave me the opportunity to develop my leadership skills even though I was addressing more senior members of staff!
I thin coming back to university with a work ethic will benefit me immensely; having a normal working day of 8-4 will significantly increase the dedication I have to my work. I developed great presentation skills during the placement which is very helpful in university. I also gained a lot of confidence in myself during my placement which I will use in my final year and beyond.
The Company
It was a great atmosphere- everyone was so lovely to talk to and always more than happy to help. I even networked a lot across departments in order to learn about other opportunities available as a potential future career; even senior directors were happy to take time out of their day to chat about the aspects of their work.
I think it could have been organised better from my universities point of view. However more correspondence before I accepted the placement could have helped immensely- I needed to complete a scientific report while on placement which proved significantly difficult on my arrival as this was not something that could be completed within my department.
We had lots of training and learnt a variety of different skills and systems. I believe development is a focus at GSK.

Company Parties/Events
Subsidised Canteen
Financial Bonus
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
I would love to return to GSK however in a different role that I would enjoy more.
The Culture
The students were amazing!
Fairly expensive but it's London!
The nightlife was not great- you needed to travel into London to find that.
There were various sports teams- we were right by Brunel University.
