The Role
I found the internship very enjoyable! The team i was working with were really friendly and helpful and i had no problems integrating with them. The other interns were also all very nice people!
I felt valuable as the work i was doing was giving tangeble benifits to the company and the other members of the operations team
My line manager always gave me useful advice when i had problems with the work. Also the other Electrical engineers in different teams were always happy to help when my line manager couldn't.
I was reasonably busy through out the internship. When i finished work i was always given new work to start.
The main project i was given was to produce a business case for procurement of a critical spare for the platform with potentially several hundred million dollars riding on the outcome!
Not so much the technical aspects however being able to manage my time and organise how i went about doing my work have/will assist my studies.
The Company
the office had a very relaxed atmosphere and there was always good banter going about! The employees at BP are given responsibillity to organise them selves and ensure work is completed on time so when they needed to work they did. I quite like this idea as i enjoy having responsibillity to manage myself and not have some breathing down your neck all the time.
The internship was very well organised with mid and final apraisals in the 4th and 8th week respectively to make sure you were meeting/had met your targets. One downside was with a bit more organisation interns could be given offshore experience at some point during the internship
The fact that your given a line manager and a mentor showed the company were investing alot into us. The company also put us on presentation trainind days and day trips to see some of the onshore installations
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen

Im on the graduate scheme for 2011.
The Culture
CHUNDER DRAGON!
Aberdeen is one of the most expensive cities in the UK. fortunately the intern salary was very good! Living wasn't to bad as bills were inclusive of the rent!
Most of the clubs are not places i like to go as they are mostly cheesy night clubs. however its good fun if your hammered and the people i went out with were ace!
I went to numerous dinners and nights out with electrical engineers and harding operations team! i also played 5 a side football every week with colleageus and 7 a side occasionally with the current graduates and staff members
