The Role
The work that I was tasked with was on the whole enjoyable and challenging aside from some business as usual.
From the first day I felt a valued member of my team. The work I was completing was critical to the teams function and the other members of the team were helpful and inclusive.
My manager as a first port of call was supportive and receptive to me wanting to redirect my roll. In addition I had a graduate buddy that I could talk to about any issue and a supervisor who I could rely on for any other questions.
On occasion I found myself a little too busy but with correct time management I found a good balance. When I found myself with work that I would not have been able to complete in time my manager happily took some of my responsibilities.
I had a good level of responsibility however always had the safety net of my manager checking the work I had completed.
Beyond the technical competence that I have obtained I feel far better prepared to work in an office environment through improved organisation, communication and time management skills.
The Company
The office environment is very much work focused however there was always time for a bit of a relax and catchup.
The staff that coordinated the placement cant be commended sufficiently. The placement started with an introduction day where we found out all about the company and the job prospects that are available on the back of the placement. Then throughout the internship there were senior speakers arranged to discover more about the company. In addition to the information sessions there were a couple of social events where food and drinks were provided.
I had a number of roll specific training in addition to the standard company training however had I had a desire to learn more I could have easily enrolled in a number of extra courses.

The intention for this internship is to offer a permanent place on the graduate scheme to everyone that performs to a reasonable standard. Through the internship I had weekly meetings with my manager where I was given an idea as to how well I was performing and then on the last day we were told weather we would be offered the full time roll.
The Culture
It was very easy to make friends with the fellow placement students as there were a number of social events and the majority of students lived in the same Bournemouth university accommodation.
Living and drinking costs were all round quite cheap. However as Bournemouth is a summer destination shot term lettings meant you might be paying a little more but not vastly
The nightlife is not the best however there is certainly a good number of options for what to do in the evening
There were numerous opportunities to activities outside of work that is organised through work in addition to a host of other activities in the area.
